Origami and lots of it
It's been a minute maybe two...time is a stretchy thing so they say its true.
And so, what HAVE I been up to?
In the months since departing from job, home, and the security blankey I call Seattle, I have been to two origami gatherings - A conference PCOC 2019 in Portland, OR., and MidWest 2020 in Indianapolis, ID. Both were amazing experiences. I met so many talented artists, interesting people, and I also managed to make a few new friends. I am always in awe of those who can both design and fold, and suddenly Star Wars echoes "Padawan learner" in my head...
I am discovering new designers and artists everyday and I have so much to learn. Some of my favorite models to fold & some of my favorite origami books come from the following designers.
Akira Yoshizawa
Beth Johnson
Fumiaki Kawahata
Robert Lang
Oriol Esteve
Ektaerina Lukasheva
There are a lot of fantastic origami resources available, I've NOT started compiling an exhaustive list, but I do have a few of my go to's below, in case you are wondering where to start.
Origami USA
The American national society devoted to origami, the art of paperfolding. A fantastic resources for all things origami, including conferences, paper, books, you name it.
Origami Shop (US)
Paper, books, and all kinds of resources. This is my go to for paper and high quality supplies
Gilad's Origami Page
Home of the largest collections of all origami book reviews and galleries of Gilad's folded models. This is a priceless resource for those looking for models from a specific designer.
Ok, next post will be about my hikes, I've done a few over the last couple months that are worth a ramble or two.
Until next time, Happy Folding!
